Den Brysomme Mannen

A movie I finished just recently. A bleak yet intriguing Norwegian movie. The premise seems a little cliche but is presented in a way that I imagine most film makers would avoid, as a boring, straightforward film. It advances slowly, but if you have the patience, it can captivate you. The pace of the film turns into suspense as you try to realize exactly what is going, as much of the movie seems to leave the viewer to think on their own. Something American movies don't normally do. Being slightly confused throughout the movie as to what each character was actually feeling was actually a nice surprise compared to most movies I have watched lately.

The display of the world he lives in and the development of the character is fantastic. Telling you what the story is about probably wouldn't interest you in watching it, but if you knew what emotions you would feel by watching the movie to the end, maybe would. You'll have to watch it with subtitles if you do, but the dialogue is minimal. One of the most uniquely sad movies I've seen in my life, and not in a Romeo and Juliet kind of sad, not like a Toy Story kind of sad, a new kind of sad, that might make you a little more grateful for what you have.
